Free Guide to Canceling Your Hallmark Plus Subscription

Understanding Hallmark Plus and When You Might Want to Cancel

Hallmark Plus is a subscription streaming service operated by Crown Media Family Networks that offers access to Hallmark Channel programming, movies, and exclusive content. The service costs $5.99 per month or $59.99 per year as of 2024, though pricing may vary by region or promotional periods. The platform allows subscribers to watch Hallmark Channel content on demand through web browsers, mobile apps, and select streaming devices.

People subscribe to Hallmark Plus for various reasons—some want to watch holiday movies year-round, others enjoy the network's dramatic series, and some use it to access content without cable. However, subscription costs accumulate over time. A year of Hallmark Plus costs nearly $72 at the monthly rate or $60 at the annual rate. When combined with other streaming services, these expenses add up. Some subscribers find that they no longer use the service regularly, prefer other streaming options, or need to reduce their monthly expenses.

Before canceling, consider whether you might pause instead. Some streaming services offer the option to temporarily suspend your account for a set period rather than cancel outright. This approach can preserve your account settings and viewing history if you think you might return. However, Hallmark Plus does not currently offer a pause feature, so cancellation is a permanent action until you resubscribe.

You might also want to check if you subscribed through Hallmark's website directly or through a third-party service like Amazon Prime Video Channels, Apple TV Channels, or The Roku Channel. The cancellation process differs significantly depending on where you subscribed. Direct Hallmark Plus subscriptions use one process, while third-party subscriptions require canceling through that specific platform's account settings.

Practical Takeaway: Identify where you subscribed to Hallmark Plus before attempting cancellation. Check your email receipts or bank statements to confirm whether charges come directly from Crown Media or through a third-party streaming platform. This determines which cancellation instructions you should follow.

How to Cancel a Direct Hallmark Plus Subscription

If you subscribed directly through the Hallmark Plus website or app, you can cancel through your account settings. Start by visiting the Hallmark Plus website at hallmarkchannel.com or opening the Hallmark Plus mobile application. Log in using the email address and password associated with your account. Some users find it helpful to have their login credentials ready before starting the process, as this prevents interruptions.

Once logged in, navigate to your account settings. On the website, this typically appears as a profile icon or menu option in the upper right corner of the page. Select "Account" or "Account Settings" from the dropdown menu. You should see various options including subscription details, payment information, and profile preferences. Look for the section labeled "Subscription" or "Membership" to view your current subscription status.

Within the subscription section, you will see your current plan (monthly or annual) and billing date. There should be a button or link that says "Cancel Subscription" or "Manage Subscription." Click this option to proceed. The system may ask you to confirm your cancellation or offer a discount code to encourage you to stay. You can accept the discount if you wish to continue, or proceed with cancellation if you have decided to end your subscription.

After confirming cancellation, you should receive an email confirmation to the address associated with your account. This email serves as proof that your cancellation was processed. Keep this email for your records. Your access typically continues until the end of your current billing cycle. If you paid monthly and cancel mid-cycle, you retain access through the date of your next scheduled charge. If you subscribed annually and cancel partway through the year, access continues until the anniversary date of your original subscription.

If you encounter difficulties logging in or cannot find the cancellation option, the Hallmark Plus support section may provide additional guidance. The website typically includes a "Help" or "Support" section with contact information for customer service. You can reach them through email or phone to request manual cancellation of your account.

Practical Takeaway: Save your cancellation confirmation email immediately after completing the cancellation process. This documentation shows that you requested cancellation and helps resolve any billing issues if charges continue after your access ends. Check your bank or credit card statement one billing cycle after cancellation to confirm that charges have stopped.

Canceling Through Third-Party Streaming Platforms

Many people subscribe to Hallmark Plus through other services such as Amazon Prime Video Channels, Apple TV Channels, Google Play, The Roku Channel, or YouTube TV. This approach offers convenience since you manage all subscriptions in one place using your existing account. However, cancellation requires going through the third-party platform rather than contacting Hallmark directly.

For Amazon Prime Video, log into your Amazon account and go to "Your Account," then select "Prime Video Channel Subscriptions." You will see a list of all channels you subscribe to, including Hallmark Plus. Click the "Cancel Channel" option next to Hallmark Plus. Amazon typically provides options to cancel immediately or at the end of your billing period. Choose your preferred option and confirm. You receive a confirmation email from Amazon.

Apple TV subscribers should open the Apple TV app and navigate to "Account" in the menu. Select "Subscriptions" and find Hallmark Plus in the list. Tap "Edit Subscription" and choose "Cancel Subscription." On Mac computers, access the same settings through System Settings, then navigate to your Apple ID account, subscriptions section. iPhone and iPad users can manage subscriptions in the Settings app under "iTunes & App Store," then "Subscriptions."

Roku Channel subscribers can cancel through their Roku account online or directly through their Roku device. Visit roku.com, log in, and go to "Subscriptions" in your account settings. Find Hallmark Plus and select "Manage" or "Cancel." Google Play subscribers should visit play.google.com, sign in to their Google Account, go to "Payments & subscriptions," select "Subscriptions," find Hallmark Plus, and choose "Cancel subscription."

YouTube TV users can cancel add-on channels through the YouTube TV settings. Open YouTube TV, click your profile picture, select "Settings," then "Memberships," and choose "Manage" next to Hallmark Plus Channel. Each of these platforms handles cancellation differently, so follow the specific steps for your service. Most provide cancellation confirmations via email, and access typically continues through the end of your current billing period.

Practical Takeaway: Write down the exact name of the platform through which you subscribed before beginning cancellation. This prevents confusion and ensures you cancel through the correct service. Many people subscribe through multiple platforms without realizing it, leading to duplicate charges. Check all your subscriptions across different services to identify any unwanted recurring charges.

What Happens After You Cancel Your Subscription

Understanding what occurs after cancellation helps you plan your viewing and avoid confusion. When you cancel Hallmark Plus, you do not lose access to your account immediately. Instead, you retain full access to the service through the end of your current billing cycle. If you subscribed on the 15th of a month and cancel on the 20th, you can continue watching until the 15th of the following month. This grace period applies to both monthly and annual subscriptions.

Your account information, including your viewing history, watchlist, and profile settings, remains stored in Hallmark's system. If you resubscribe in the future, you can log back in using the same email address and password, and your previous data will still be there. This means you do not lose your place in shows you were watching or your curated lists.

After your access ends, you will not be charged again unless you manually resubscribe. The charge should stop appearing on your bank or credit card statement in the billing cycle following your cancellation. Monitor your statements for at least two billing cycles to confirm that charges have stopped completely. If you see unexpected charges after your cancellation date, contact Hallmark Plus customer service or your third-party platform's support team to report the issue.

Some users receive promotional emails after cancellation offering discounts to return. For example, Hallmark might offer a discounted rate for your first month back or a special holiday promotion. You can choose to ignore these offers or take advantage of them if the discount interests you. Reactivating your subscription is straightforward—simply log back into your account or navigate to the subscription page and purchase a new plan.
