Learn About Ticketmaster Presale Access Options

Understanding Ticketmaster Presale Access

Ticketmaster presales are special ticket-selling periods that happen before general public on-sale dates. During a presale, certain groups of people can purchase tickets earlier than the general population. This guide provides information about how presale access works and the main types of presales Ticketmaster offers.

Presales typically last anywhere from a few hours to several days, depending on the event and the type of presale. For example, a venue presale might run for 24 hours, while a fan club presale could last 48 hours. The specific timing varies by artist, venue, and promotion. Understanding these timeframes helps you plan your ticket-purchasing strategy.

Ticketmaster offers several categories of presales. These include venue presales (for fans registered with specific venues), venue loyalty program presales (for members of venue reward programs), artist fan club presales (for members of official fan communities), and credit card presales (for holders of specific credit cards that partner with Ticketmaster). Each presale type has different requirements and processes.

The main benefit of presale access is the opportunity to purchase tickets before they sell out. High-demand events can sell out within minutes during general on-sale. Presale access gives certain fans a head start. However, presales can also fill quickly, particularly for popular artists and venues.

Ticketmaster publishes presale information through multiple channels. Venue websites, artist social media accounts, fan club newsletters, and the main Ticketmaster website all announce upcoming presales. Many venues and artists post presale details 1-2 weeks before the event goes on sale.

Practical Takeaway: Monitor the official websites and social media accounts of venues and artists you're interested in. Presale announcements often contain specific access codes, start times, and other details you'll need to know before purchasing.

Venue Presale Access and Registration

Venue presales represent one of the most common types of presale access on Ticketmaster. These presales allow fans who have registered with a specific venue to purchase tickets before the general public. Nearly all major concert venues, arenas, and theaters partner with Ticketmaster for their ticketing operations and offer venue presales for events held at their location.

To participate in a venue presale, you typically need to be registered in Ticketmaster's system with an account associated with that specific venue. The registration process usually involves creating a free Ticketmaster account and indicating which venue or venues you want to follow. Some venues require you to have attended an event at their location or to have received a specific code, while others make presale access available to anyone who registers.

Venue presales often last 24 hours and start at 10 a.m. local time, though timing varies. For instance, Madison Square Garden presales typically begin at 10 a.m. Eastern Time for shows at that venue. The Staples Center in Los Angeles might start presales at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Checking the specific venue's website helps you confirm exact start times for events you're interested in.

The registration requirements differ from venue to venue. Some venues maintain their own loyalty programs, such as the Amway Center in Orlando or the United Center in Chicago. Members of these loyalty programs receive presale access as a member benefit. Other venues use simpler systems where anyone who registers receives presale codes via email when an event is announced.

Many venues offer multiple layers of presale access. A venue might offer an initial 24-hour presale for loyalty program members, followed by a 24-hour presale for general registered users. This tiered approach gives different groups of fans different timing advantages. Understanding where you fall in these tiers helps you determine when you can purchase.

It's worth noting that venue presale codes are often posted on the venue's website or sent to registered fans via email. These codes are typically unique to each venue and event combination. Using a presale code from one venue does not work for presales at other venues.

Practical Takeaway: Visit the official website of venues where you frequently attend shows and look for registration or membership options. Register your Ticketmaster account with these venues to receive presale notifications and codes when new events are announced.

Artist Fan Club and Direct Presale Options

Many recording artists maintain official fan clubs that provide member benefits including presale ticket access. These fan club presales are managed directly by the artist's management team or record label, often in partnership with Ticketmaster. Fan club memberships may be free or require a membership fee, depending on the artist and their structure.

Official fan clubs operate differently across the music industry. Some artists use services like Fan Club HQ, Patreon, or proprietary fan club platforms. Others work with established fan club networks. When an artist announces a tour, their fan club typically receives presale codes several days before other presale groups. These codes are distributed via email to current members.

Fan club presales typically last 24 to 48 hours. For example, if Taylor Swift announces a show, members of her official fan club Taylor Nation receive presale access first. The presale window might run from 10 a.m. Thursday through 10 p.m. Friday, giving members roughly 36 hours to purchase before the next presale group gains access.

Some artists also offer direct presale access through their official websites or social media accounts. These artist presales may not require membership. Instead, the artist might release a presale code publicly through Instagram, Twitter, or their mailing list. These codes are often available to anyone who follows the artist's official accounts or signs up for their newsletter.

The terms of fan club memberships vary widely. Some fan clubs charge annual fees ranging from $5 to $30 per year and include perks like presale codes, exclusive merchandise, and access to members-only events. Others are completely free but require registration. Before joining a fan club specifically for presale access, research what benefits and costs are involved.

It's important to distinguish between official and unofficial fan clubs. Unofficial fan clubs, run by individual fans rather than the artist, do not receive presale codes or official access. Only fan clubs operated or officially recognized by the artist or their team provide legitimate presale opportunities. Checking the artist's official website will show links to their authorized fan club.

Practical Takeaway: For artists whose shows you frequently want to attend, find their official fan club or newsletter through their verified website or official social media accounts. Signing up for these services often provides presale codes at no cost and requires only basic registration information.

Credit Card and Loyalty Program Presales

Ticketmaster maintains partnerships with major credit card companies and financial institutions to offer presale access to cardholders. These presales are among the most widely available presale opportunities because millions of people hold qualifying credit cards. The major credit card providers offering Ticketmaster presales include American Express, Visa, and Mastercard through various partner banks.

American Express presales, often called Amex Presale or American Express Presale, are among the most recognized card-based presale options. Cardholders can receive presale codes via email directly from American Express or through their Ticketmaster account. The presale window for Amex typically runs 24 hours and is often positioned as the second or third presale tier for major events.

Visa and Mastercard presales work similarly but vary by the specific bank issuing the card. A Visa card from one bank might offer different presale access than a Visa card from another bank. Some presales are available to all Visa cardholders, while others are restricted to cardholders of specific banks. Checking your card issuer's website or the Ticketmaster website will show what presales your specific card provides.

Bank loyalty programs also offer presale access. Many regional and national banks run rewards programs that include concert ticket presales as a member benefit. For instance, a customer holding a premium checking account with certain banks might receive access to presales before general public on-sale dates. These benefits are typically outlined in the account terms or on the bank's website.

The timeline for credit card presales typically follows this pattern: Fan club and venue presales occur first (often within the first 24-48 hours of announcement), followed by credit card presales (usually 24-48 hours after fan club presales), followed by general public on-sale (typically 1-2 weeks after
