Learn About the 2027 Hyundai Palisade

Overview of the 2027 Hyundai Palisade Design and Positioning

The 2027 Hyundai Palisade represents the third generation of Hyundai's three-row midsize SUV, continuing the brand's commitment to offering family-oriented vehicles that balance performance, style, and value. The Palisade competes directly with vehicles like the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, and Kia Sorento, positioning itself in a segment that has seen significant growth over the past decade. As of 2024, the midsize SUV category accounts for approximately 18 percent of the total U.S. vehicle market, reflecting strong consumer demand for spacious yet manageable vehicles.

The 2027 model year builds on the platform introduced for the 2024 generation, which received a comprehensive redesign that included updated styling, refined interior technology, and improved structural rigidity. Hyundai's design language for this generation emphasizes a more sophisticated and premium appearance compared to earlier iterations. The front fascia features a bolder grille design, LED lighting signatures that create distinctive daytime running light patterns, and a more sculpted hood that contributes to the vehicle's commanding presence on the road.

The exterior dimensions of the 2027 Palisade measure approximately 194.5 inches in length, 76.8 inches in width, and 68.5 inches in height, providing substantial interior space while maintaining reasonable maneuverability for an SUV of this class. The wheelbase spans 114.2 inches, which contributes to a stable ride quality and maximizes interior cabin space. The vehicle's curb weight ranges from approximately 4,230 pounds for front-wheel-drive models to 4,440 pounds for all-wheel-drive configurations, representing a reasonable weight distribution for its size category.

Practical takeaway: When considering the 2027 Palisade, understanding its dimensions and positioning in the midsize SUV market can help you determine whether it matches your space needs and how it compares to other vehicles in the segment.

Engine Options, Performance, and Fuel Efficiency

The 2027 Hyundai Palisade offers a single turbocharged engine across its lineup, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 277 horsepower and 304 pound-feet of torque. This engine represents a slight increase in performance compared to some earlier turbocharged four-cylinder competitors, though it maintains the efficiency standards expected in the midsize SUV segment. The engine pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission that distributes power to either the front wheels or all four wheels, depending on the model selected.

Fuel economy estimates for the 2027 Palisade vary based on drivetrain configuration. Front-wheel-drive models achieve approximately 23 miles per gallon in city driving, 30 miles per gallon on highways, and a combined rating of 26 miles per gallon. All-wheel-drive variants return approximately 22 miles per gallon city, 28 miles per gallon highway, and 24 miles per gallon combined. These figures represent the EPA's official fuel economy ratings and reflect testing conducted under standardized conditions. Real-world mileage may vary depending on driving habits, road conditions, traffic patterns, and vehicle maintenance.

Acceleration performance places the 2027 Palisade in the moderate range for its segment. The vehicle can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in approximately 8.1 seconds for front-wheel-drive models and 8.3 seconds for all-wheel-drive versions. Maximum towing capacity reaches 5,000 pounds when properly equipped, making the Palisade capable of handling modest trailer loads for boats, utility trailers, or small travel trailers. The vehicle requires premium unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 or higher to achieve its rated performance specifications, which some owners should factor into their operational cost calculations.

The transmission features multiple driving modes that adjust engine responsiveness and shift behavior. Sport mode sharpens throttle response and holds gears longer for more spirited driving, while Eco mode adjusts shift points and engine management to prioritize fuel economy during highway cruising. Comfort mode provides a balanced approach suitable for typical daily driving.

Practical takeaway: Comparing the Palisade's fuel economy to your typical annual mileage and local fuel prices can help you estimate annual fuel costs and understand the long-term operating expenses compared to other vehicles you might be considering.

Interior Features, Seating, and Cargo Space

The 2027 Hyundai Palisade provides seating for up to eight passengers across three rows, though the third row is best suited for smaller children or shorter adults due to the space limitations typical of midsize SUVs. The first and second rows offer comfortable accommodations for adult passengers with adjustable lumbar support in higher trim levels. Front seats include multiple adjustment mechanisms, including power-adjustable bolster support in some configurations to help achieve personalized seating positions.

Cargo space represents one of the Palisade's notable strengths in the midsize SUV category. With all three rows of seats in the upright position, the vehicle provides 18.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row. Folding down the third row expands this to 46.7 cubic feet, and completely folding both the second and third rows creates a maximum cargo area of 84.9 cubic feet. This flexibility makes the Palisade useful for families who need to accommodate both passengers and cargo on the same journey, a common real-world requirement.

The interior design emphasizes ease of use and practical organization. Cup holders are strategically placed throughout the cabin, with multiple locations in both the front and middle rows. Door pockets provide convenient storage for smaller items, and a center console houses additional storage with a sliding rear section. Upper trim levels include heated and ventilated front seats, which address common comfort concerns in various climate conditions. The heated steering wheel, when included, responds particularly well to cold weather situations common in northern climates during winter months.

Audio and infotainment systems vary by trim level. Base models include a 7-inch touchscreen display, while upper trims feature an 8-inch or larger display with increased functionality. These systems integrate smartphone connectivity through both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing drivers to access navigation applications, music streaming services, and communication functions through the vehicle's display. The audio systems range from a basic six-speaker setup to premium Bose or similar brand audio systems in higher trim levels, with options for additional speakers and subwoofers.

Climate control includes automatic temperature management in upper trim levels, with the ability to set different temperatures for driver and passenger sides. Dual-zone and triple-zone climate systems are available, which is particularly useful for families with varying temperature preferences. Ventilation systems include multiple settings to direct airflow to specific areas of the cabin.

Practical takeaway: If you frequently transport both passengers and cargo, measuring your typical cargo requirements against the Palisade's expandable space configuration can help confirm whether the vehicle meets your practical needs.

Safety Technology and Crash Protection Features

The 2027 Hyundai Palisade includes a comprehensive suite of safety technologies across all trim levels, reflecting industry standards and regulatory requirements for vehicles in this class. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) provides crash test ratings for vehicles, and the 2027 Palisade has received ratings in various crash scenarios. According to available testing data, the vehicle demonstrates solid structural performance in frontal crash tests and side-impact scenarios.

Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) come standard on the 2027 Palisade and include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assistance. Forward collision warning uses front-facing radar and camera sensors to detect vehicles ahead and alert the driver if a collision risk is detected. Automatic emergency braking takes this a step further by applying the brakes without driver input if an imminent collision is detected and the driver hasn't responded to warnings. These systems have demonstrated the ability to reduce the severity of accidents or prevent collisions entirely in certain situations, according to insurance industry data and various research studies.

Lane-keeping assistance monitors road markings using camera-based systems and provides gentle steering corrections if the vehicle begins to drift outside its lane without a turn signal being activated. Lane departure warning alerts the driver to unintended lane movement, giving the driver the opportunity to correct course. Blind spot detection systems use radar sensors mounted in the rear quarter panels to identify vehicles in the vehicle's blind spots, with alerts typically displayed on the
