The bill payment process typically involves receiving a monthly statement that details your water and electric usage, along with the amount owed. Customers have the flexibility to choose when and how they want to pay, with payment deadlines usually set around 20 days after the bill is issued. Late fees may apply if payment is not received by the due date, so understanding your payment options can help you avoid unnecessary charges.

Each payment method has its own characteristics in terms of convenience, processing time, and security. Some methods provide immediate confirmation of payment, while others may take a few business days to process. By learning about each option, you can select the method that best aligns with your schedule and preferences.

Practical takeaway: Review your current billing statement to note the due date and amount owed. This information will be helpful when selecting and completing a payment through any of the methods described in this guide.

Online Payment Through the GWP Website

The GWP website offers a convenient online payment portal where customers can pay their bills from any computer or mobile device with internet access. This method is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing flexibility for those with busy schedules. To use this option, you will need your account number, which appears on your monthly bill statement, along with your service address.

Accessing the online payment system is straightforward. Navigate to the official GWP website and look for the "Pay Your Bill" or "Online Payments" section. You will typically be asked to enter your account information to locate your bill. Once you have entered your details, the system will display your current balance and allow you to enter payment information.

The online payment portal generally accepts payments via debit card, credit card, and bank transfer. When using a credit or debit card, be aware that convenience fees may apply depending on the payment processor. These fees are typically small percentages of your total payment and will be displayed before you confirm the transaction. Bank transfers through the online portal may not incur additional fees, though you should verify this on the payment screen.

Payment processing times vary slightly depending on the method chosen. Credit and debit card payments are often processed within one to two business days, while bank transfers may take similar timeframes. The online system provides a confirmation number after you complete your payment, which serves as a receipt for your records.

Practical takeaway: Save your confirmation number in your email or phone notes. This number proves you made the payment and can be useful if you need to follow up on your account or dispute a late fee.

Phone and Automated Payment Systems

GWP customers can pay their bills over the telephone using the automated payment system or by speaking with a customer service representative. The automated phone system allows you to make payments without waiting for someone to answer, which can be particularly useful during peak calling hours. The customer service phone number for GWP is typically found on your billing statement.

To use the automated phone payment system, you will need your account number and a valid debit or credit card. When you call, follow the prompts provided by the system to enter your information. The automated system will confirm the payment amount and provide you with a confirmation number upon completion. This entire process usually takes just a few minutes.

If you prefer speaking with a representative, you can select that option when calling. A customer service representative can answer questions about your bill, explain payment options in more detail, or help you set up recurring payments. Representatives are typically available during standard business hours, which are usually Monday through Friday from approximately 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., though hours may vary seasonally.

Phone payments using debit or credit cards typically process within one to two business days. It is important to note that the phone payment system does not store your card information between calls, which provides an added layer of security. After each payment, you will receive a confirmation number that you should record for your records.

Practical takeaway: When paying by phone, write down the confirmation number immediately after you hang up. Keep this number with your billing records in case you need to verify the payment was processed.

Mail Payment and Check Submission

Traditional mail payment remains a reliable option for customers who prefer not to use digital methods. To pay by mail, you will write a check or money order in the amount of your bill and send it to the GWP payment address listed on your billing statement. This method does not require internet access or a credit card, making it accessible to customers who prefer conventional payment methods.

When preparing your payment by mail, always include your account number on the check. You can write it in the memo line of the check or on the payment stub that comes with your bill. The GWP office uses this number to quickly match your payment to the correct account. Without the account number, processing may be delayed while the payment is manually matched to your account.

Mail payments typically take seven to ten business days to be processed and posted to your account, depending on postal delivery times. This means you should plan to mail your payment well before the due date to the bill to avoid late fees. A good rule of thumb is to mail your payment at least one to two weeks before the due date listed on your statement.

The mailing address for payments should be clearly printed on your billing statement. Some customers choose to use certified mail or delivery confirmation when sending checks to have proof of mailing. While this is not required, it can provide peace of mind if there are any questions about whether your payment was received.

Practical takeaway: Write your account number on every check you mail to GWP. Consider mailing your payment two weeks before the due date to ensure it arrives in time and avoid any potential late fees.

In-Person Payment at Payment Locations

GWP customers may pay their bills in person at authorized payment locations throughout the Glendale area. These locations provide an option for customers who want to pay with cash, money order, or check while receiving immediate confirmation of payment. In-person payments eliminate mail delays and provide a tangible receipt at the time of payment.

Payment locations typically include the main GWP office located at 500 East Harvard Street in Glendale. Some retail partners in the community may also accept GWP bill payments. The specific locations and their hours of operation can be found on the GWP website or by calling customer service. Hours at these locations are typically Monday through Friday during standard business hours.

When paying in person, bring your billing statement or account number along with your payment. If paying with cash, have the exact amount or be prepared to receive change. The payment staff will issue you a receipt showing the payment date, amount, and your account number. Keep this receipt with your records until you see the payment reflected on your next billing statement.

In-person payment is generally the fastest way to ensure your payment is posted to your account. Unlike mailed checks that take seven to ten days or online payments that take one to two days, in-person payments may appear on your account within one to three business days. This immediacy can be beneficial if you are making a late payment or want to quickly resolve a billing issue.

Practical takeaway: If you live or work near a GWP payment location, keeping the address and hours on your phone can make it easy to pay in person if you ever need a quick resolution to billing questions or want to pay in cash.

Setting Up Recurring and Automatic Payments

GWP offers the option to set up automatic recurring payments, which can simplify bill payment by processing your payment at a regular interval. Automatic payment options remove the need to remember due dates and can help you avoid late fees. There are typically two types of automatic payment arrangements: automatic bank account payments and automatic card payments.

To set up automatic payments from your bank account, you will authorize GWP to withdraw funds directly from your checking or savings account on a specified date each month. This is often called an ACH (Automated Clearing House) payment. To set this up, you will need to provide your bank account number and routing number. Many customers find that automatic bank account payments have lower or no fees compared to credit card payments
