Entry-Level Positions and Job Responsibilities

Most people entering Enterprise careers start in positions such as rental agent, customer service representative, or lot attendant. Rental agents interact directly with customers, processing vehicle reservations, handling check-ins and check-outs, explaining rental agreements, and processing payments. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Agents typically work behind a counter or desk and use computer systems to access customer information and vehicle availability.

Lot attendants work in the vehicle storage and retrieval section of rental facilities. Responsibilities include parking and retrieving vehicles, performing basic vehicle inspections, washing and detailing cars, and fueling vehicles. Lot attendants spend most of their time outdoors and need to be comfortable operating vehicles and performing physical tasks. This role involves more hands-on work than customer-facing positions and requires the ability to move quickly and safely.

Customer service representatives may work in call centers or at branch locations, handling phone calls and online inquiries about reservations, billing questions, and general information. These positions require good listening skills and the ability to resolve customer concerns professionally. The role often involves multitasking between phone systems and computer databases.

Entry-level positions typically require a high school diploma or GED. Most locations require employees to be at least 18 years old, though some positions may have different age requirements. A valid driver's license is standard for most roles. Training is provided on the job, covering Enterprise systems, procedures, and customer service standards. New employees usually spend their first weeks learning company policies and shadowing experienced staff members.

Enterprise's management structure includes assistant managers, branch managers, and area managers who oversee multiple locations. This role requires both business acumen and leadership skills. Branch managers typically progress to this position after 2-4 years with the company, usually starting as rental agents and advancing through assistant manager roles.

Area managers supervise multiple branch locations across a geographic region, handling strategic oversight, financial reporting, and performance management of branch managers. This higher-level position requires several years of management experience and involves frequent travel between locations. Area managers work more with business analysis and leadership strategy than with day-to-day customer interactions.
