How to Pay Your Stellantis Auto Loan

Understanding Stellantis Auto Loans and Payment Options

Stellantis is a multinational automotive manufacturer formed in 2021 through the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the PSA Group. The company produces vehicles under well-known brands including Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Dodge, and Fiat in North America, along with many other brands globally. When you purchase a Stellantis vehicle through financing, you may work with various lenders, as Stellantis does not typically originate loans directly. Instead, the company partners with multiple financial institutions, captive finance companies, and third-party lenders.

Your auto loan may be serviced by Santander Consumer USA, TD Auto Finance, Chase Auto Finance, or other financial institutions depending on where you financed your vehicle. Some customers finance through traditional banks, credit unions, or online lenders. This means your payment location and process depends on which lender provided your specific loan. Understanding this structure is important because you'll send payments to your lender, not to Stellantis itself.

Auto loans are installment loans, meaning you make regular monthly payments over a set period, typically 36 to 72 months. Each payment includes principal (the original loan amount) and interest (the cost of borrowing). Early in the loan term, a larger portion of your payment goes toward interest, while later payments apply more heavily to principal. Your loan agreement specifies your interest rate, loan term, monthly payment amount, and due date.

Practical takeaway: Review your loan documents or original financing paperwork to identify your lender and confirm your monthly payment amount and due date. If you cannot locate this information, contact the dealership where you purchased your vehicle.

Locating Your Lender and Account Information

Finding the correct entity to pay requires a few simple steps. First, check your loan paperwork or the purchase agreement from when you bought your vehicle. This document shows the name of your financial institution and may include account numbers or reference numbers. You may have received a loan disclosure statement, promissory note, or Truth in Lending statement—these all contain lender information.

Your monthly payment coupon or statement is another reliable source. Most lenders mail customers monthly statements showing the payment amount, due date, and where to send payments. These statements typically include the lender's phone number and website. If you receive electronic statements, your loan servicer's name and contact information appears in those emails as well.

If you've misplaced your paperwork, contact the dealership directly. Dealerships maintain records of financing details and can provide your lender's name and contact information. Many dealerships can access this information over the phone or through email. You may need to provide your vehicle identification number (VIN), which appears on your vehicle's dashboard and registration documents.

Online account registration offers another avenue for locating information. Many lenders allow you to create online accounts on their websites. If you already have an account with your lender, logging in displays your loan details, including the exact amount owed, payment history, and current due date. If you haven't registered yet, visiting your lender's website often provides options to create an account using your loan number and personal information.

Common Stellantis loan servicers include Santander Consumer USA (visit santanderconsumerusa.com), TD Auto Finance (visit tdautofinance.com), and Chase Auto Finance (visit chaseautofinance.com). You can also contact your state's Department of Motor Vehicles or check your vehicle registration, which sometimes includes lender information.

Practical takeaway: Gather your original loan documents, monthly statements, or vehicle registration and identify your specific lender before making a payment.

Making Online Payments

Online payment is the fastest and most convenient method for most borrowers. Nearly all major auto lenders now offer online payment portals accessible through their websites. To pay online, visit your lender's website and look for a link labeled "Make a Payment," "Pay My Loan," or "Account Management." You'll typically need to log into your account using your username and password, or create a new account if you haven't already.

The online payment process generally works as follows: First, log into your lender's portal or app. Navigate to the payment section and select "Make a Payment." The system displays your current balance, minimum payment due, and due date. You can choose to pay the minimum amount due, pay the full loan balance to pay off early, or pay a custom amount between the minimum and full balance. Enter your payment method—either a bank account (via ACH transfer) or debit card. Review the payment details for accuracy, including the amount and date the payment will be processed. Confirm the transaction.

Most online payments process within one to three business days, though some lenders offer same-day or next-day processing for an additional fee. It's important to understand when your lender actually receives the funds. If you have an upcoming due date, submit your payment at least three to five business days early to account for processing time. Many lenders display a confirmation number after you submit payment—keep this for your records.

Online payment offers several advantages. You control the exact payment date and amount, which is useful if you want to pay extra principal to reduce your loan term. You can set up automatic recurring payments, so your lender withdraws the payment each month without you taking action. You avoid mailing delays and late fees associated with paper checks. Most online systems are secure and use encryption to protect your financial information.

Practical takeaway: Create an online account with your lender today to understand the payment portal, set up automatic payments, and ensure you never miss a due date.

Paying by Mail, Phone, or Automatic Withdrawal

While online payment is increasingly common, traditional payment methods remain available for those who prefer them. Mailing a check is still a valid option, though it requires planning due to mail delivery times. Your monthly statement includes a payment coupon and mailing address. Write a check for your payment amount, include the payment coupon in the envelope, and mail it to the address provided. Ensure you allow seven to ten business days for mail delivery to prevent late payments. Never send cash through the mail, as it's untrackable if lost.

Paying by phone is another traditional option. Call your lender's customer service number (found on your statement, online account, or loan documents) and speak with a representative. Provide your account number and personal information for verification. The representative will ask for payment method details—typically your bank account information for ACH transfer or debit card number. Phone payments usually process quickly, though some lenders charge a fee ranging from $5 to $10 for this service. Confirm the payment amount and date with the representative before completing the transaction, and request a confirmation number for your records.

Automatic payments, also called autopay, represent perhaps the most reliable payment method. You authorize your lender to withdraw your payment automatically each month on a set date. Most lenders offer this service free of charge through their online portals or by calling customer service. You can typically choose to pay the minimum due, a specific amount, or your entire balance automatically each month. Many lenders offer modest interest rate reductions—sometimes 0.25% to 0.5% off your rate—for setting up automatic payments, which can save money over your loan term.

To set up automatic payments, log into your online account or call your lender. Select the automatic payment option and choose your payment amount and date. Most lenders allow you to select any date that falls after your minimum payment is due. Select your payment method (typically bank account withdrawal) and provide the necessary banking information. You can modify or cancel automatic payments at any time, though you should do so well before your next scheduled payment date.

Practical takeaway: Consider setting up automatic payments from your checking or savings account to ensure you never miss a payment, potentially lowering your interest rate in the process.

Understanding Payment Timing and Avoiding Late Fees

Your loan agreement specifies a due date—the date by which your payment must be received by your lender each month. This is different from the date you submit the payment. For mailed checks, allow seven to ten business days for delivery, so mail your payment at least that far in advance of your due date. For online payments, allow two to three business days for processing, unless your lender offers expedited processing. For phone payments, ask the representative when the lender will receive the funds. For automatic payments, funds typically withdraw from your account one to two business days before the due date, ensuring timely receipt.
