NewRez offers multiple payment channels to accommodate different preferences. Some homeowners prefer the convenience of online payments through a website or mobile app. Others may want to mail a physical check. Some borrowers set up automatic payments so they do not have to remember to pay each month. Each method has different steps and timing considerations that affect when your payment reaches NewRez and when it posts to your account.

Your loan documents should specify payment instructions, including where to send payments and the due date. The due date is typically the same day each month. NewRez usually provides a grace period of 15 days after the due date before late fees apply, though your specific loan terms may differ. If your payment arrives after the due date but within the grace period, it is considered late, even though you will not face penalties yet.

Knowing your payment options matters because different methods have different processing times. An online payment might post within one to two business days. A mailed check could take seven to ten business days or longer, depending on mail delivery and processing. If you mail a payment close to the due date, it may not arrive in time, which could result in late fees. Understanding these timelines helps you choose a payment method that ensures your payment arrives on schedule.

Practical takeaway: Review your loan documents to confirm your loan servicer is NewRez, find your due date and grace period, and note the payment address. Choose a payment method based on how much time you need for processing and delivery.

Setting Up Online Payments Through NewRez

The online payment option through NewRez's website or mobile app is one of the fastest ways to make a mortgage payment. When you pay online, the payment typically posts to your account within one to two business days. This method also creates a digital record of your payment, which you can save or print for your records.

To pay online through NewRez, you first need to set up an account on their website or mobile app. You will need your loan number, which appears on your mortgage statement or closing documents. You may also need your property address or the last four digits of your Social Security number to verify your identity. Once you create your account, you can log in anytime to make a payment or view your loan information.

When making an online payment, you will need to provide your payment method. NewRez typically accepts payments from a bank account (checking or savings) or a debit card. Some payment methods may charge a fee. Bank account transfers often have no fee or a lower fee than debit card payments. Before you complete your payment, the website will show you the fee amount, if any, so you know the total cost. You can then choose whether to proceed or use a different payment method.

During the payment process, you will enter the amount you want to pay. You can pay just your regular monthly payment, or you can pay extra toward your principal if you want to pay down your loan faster. You will also select the payment date. If you choose a future date, the payment will be scheduled for that date rather than processing immediately. This feature allows you to schedule payments in advance, which can help you coordinate with your paycheck or other bills.

After you submit your payment, you will receive a confirmation number. Write down or save this number. It serves as proof that you submitted the payment. If there is ever a question about whether your payment was received, this confirmation number helps you track it down. You can usually view your payment history in your online account, where you will see dates when payments posted and amounts paid.

Practical takeaway: Create your NewRez online account, gather your loan number, and make your first payment to confirm the process works smoothly for you. Save your confirmation numbers and review your payment history regularly to confirm payments post correctly.

Making Payments by Mail

Mailing a check is a traditional payment method that many homeowners still use. This method works well if you do not have internet access, prefer not to share banking information online, or want a physical record of payment. However, mailed payments take longer to process than online payments, so timing is important to avoid late fees.

Your NewRez mortgage statement includes the mailing address where you should send your payment. This address may be different from NewRez's main office address. Always use the payment address shown on your statement to ensure your payment reaches the correct department. Some mortgage servicers have multiple processing centers, and sending your payment to the wrong address could delay it by days or weeks.

Write your loan number on the check itself, typically in the memo line. This helps NewRez match your payment to your account. Include a payment coupon if one came with your statement. The coupon has your loan number, account information, and the amount due printed on it. Using the coupon makes processing faster and reduces the chance of the payment being misapplied to the wrong account.

Mail your payment at least ten to fourteen days before the due date to account for mail delivery time and processing time at NewRez. Postal delivery within the United States typically takes three to five business days, but during holidays or bad weather, it can take longer. Once NewRez receives your payment, they need additional time to process and post it to your account. This processing can take several business days.

Keep a record of when you mailed the payment, the amount, and the check number. If you have online account access with NewRez, you can check your account after several business days to confirm the payment posted. If you do not see the payment posted within two weeks of mailing it, contact NewRez to track it down. Having a record of the check number and mailing date helps you explain the situation to customer service.

Do not mail cash. Use only checks or money orders that can be tracked. If you use a money order, keep the receipt as proof of payment. Some people worry that a mailed payment will get lost in the mail. You can reduce this risk by using certified mail with return receipt requested, though this costs extra. For most homeowners, regular first-class mail is sufficient, but certified mail gives you proof that the payment was delivered.

Practical takeaway: Mail payments at least two weeks before the due date, include your loan number on the check, use the payment coupon if available, and keep records of check numbers and mailing dates. Track posted payments in your online account or call NewRez to confirm receipt.

Setting Up Automatic Payments

Automatic payments, also called autopay or automatic draft, take your mortgage payment directly from your bank account each month on a date you choose. This method removes the need to remember to pay each month. Once set up, your payment processes automatically unless you cancel it or change the settings. Many homeowners find autopay reduces stress about missing a payment or incurring late fees.

To set up automatic payments through NewRez, you will need to provide your bank account information. You will typically need your routing number and account number, which appear at the bottom of your checks. You can also find this information by logging into your bank's website or calling your bank. NewRez will use this information to withdraw money from your account on the date you choose.

During setup, you will select the payment date each month. Most servicers allow you to choose any day between the 1st and the 28th. Choosing a date a few days after you receive your paycheck helps ensure the money is in your account when the payment is withdrawn. If the payment date falls on a weekend or holiday, the withdrawal typically happens on the next business day.

You can set up automatic payments to pay your regular monthly payment amount, or you can set a custom amount. Some homeowners use autopay for their regular payment and then make an extra payment online or by mail when they want to pay down their principal faster. You retain control over the amount withdrawn each month if you set it up as a flexible autopay rather than a fixed amount.

If you need to cancel automatic payments, you can usually do this through your online account or by calling NewRez. Changes typically take effect within one to two billing cycles. If you cancel autopay but forget to make a manual payment, you could miss your due date, so plan carefully when making changes. Some homeowners keep autopay active but also make extra payments when possible to build equity faster.
