How to Install Paramount Plus on Samsung TV

Understanding Paramount Plus and Samsung TV Compatibility

Paramount Plus is a streaming service that offers movies, TV shows, and original content from Paramount and other networks. Samsung televisions manufactured in recent years include built-in smart TV features that allow you to stream content directly to your screen without additional hardware. Understanding whether your specific Samsung TV model supports Paramount Plus installation is the first step in this process.

Samsung smart TVs use the Tizen operating system, which supports most major streaming applications. Models from 2016 onward generally include the capability to install Paramount Plus. However, older Samsung TV models or those with basic smart features may have limitations. The app requires a television with internet connectivity and sufficient storage space—typically around 100 to 200 megabytes of available storage for the Paramount Plus application itself.

You can identify your Samsung TV model by looking at the original packaging, checking the settings menu, or finding a sticker on the back of the television. The model number usually starts with letters like UN, QN, or similar designations. Once you know your model, you can verify compatibility by visiting Samsung's official website or checking the Paramount Plus app page in the Samsung App Store.

Internet connectivity is essential for Paramount Plus to function. Your Samsung TV should connect to your home Wi-Fi network before attempting installation. A stable internet connection with speeds of at least 5 megabits per second is recommended for standard quality streaming, while 25 megabits per second is suggested for 4K content on supported models.

Practical takeaway: Before proceeding with installation, verify your Samsung TV model year and confirm it has internet connectivity through your home network.

Connecting Your Samsung TV to the Internet

For Paramount Plus to work on your Samsung television, a reliable internet connection is necessary. Most Samsung smart TVs offer both wired and wireless connection options. Wireless connection through Wi-Fi is the most common method because it doesn't require running cables through your home.

To connect wirelessly, locate the Wi-Fi settings in your Samsung TV's main menu. This is typically found under Settings, then Network or Connections. Your TV will scan for available networks and display a list of Wi-Fi networks in range. Select your home network from the list and enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted. The television will confirm once the connection is successful, and you should see a connected status in the network settings menu.

If you prefer a wired connection, use an ethernet cable to connect directly from your modem or router to the ethernet port on the back of your Samsung TV. This method often provides a more stable connection, though it requires routing a cable to your television. Insert one end into the TV's ethernet port and the other into an available ethernet port on your router. The TV should recognize the connection automatically and confirm in the network settings.

Testing your connection strength is important before installing Paramount Plus. Go to Settings, select Network or Internet, and look for a connection test or speed test option. Your connection status should show "Connected" with your network name displayed. A signal strength of at least three bars out of four is recommended for smooth streaming performance.

If your connection fails or is weak, try these troubleshooting steps: move your router closer to the TV, remove obstacles between the router and television, restart both your router and TV by unplugging them for 30 seconds, or ensure no other devices are heavily using your bandwidth at the time of testing.

Practical takeaway: Verify your internet connection is stable and working before proceeding to install the Paramount Plus app on your Samsung TV.

Accessing the Samsung App Store

The Samsung App Store, officially called the Samsung Apps or Galaxy Apps depending on your TV model, is the central location where you find and put applications onto your television. This digital storefront contains hundreds of applications designed for Samsung smart TVs, including streaming services like Paramount Plus, Netflix, Disney Plus, and many others.

To access the Samsung App Store on your television, use your remote control to press the Home button, which typically displays the main menu on your screen. Look for an icon that resembles a grid of boxes or has text reading "Apps," "App Store," or "Samsung Apps." The exact appearance varies between TV models and software versions, but it's usually located prominently on the home screen or within a menu labeled "Services" or "Entertainment."

Once you open the app store, you'll see several sections. There's typically a "Featured" or "Recommended" section showing popular applications, a "Search" function that lets you type in specific app names, and various categories organized by type such as "Entertainment," "Sports," or "Streaming." You can scroll through these sections using your remote control's arrow buttons or search directly for Paramount Plus by clicking the search option.

The Samsung App Store interface uses simple navigation designed for television viewing. Move between options using your remote's directional pad, and press the center button to select. Many remotes also have a dedicated number pad, which you can use to type letters if you choose to search for an app. Text entry on a TV is slower than on a smartphone or computer, so using the search function with your remote may take a moment.

Different Samsung TV models may have slightly different app store designs or naming conventions. If you cannot locate the app store using the Home button, try looking in the main settings menu or checking your TV's user manual. Samsung's website also provides model-specific instructions for accessing the app store on your particular television.

Practical takeaway: Locate the Samsung App Store on your home screen or through your TV's main menu, and familiarize yourself with how to navigate and search for applications using your remote control.

Finding and Installing Paramount Plus

Once you have the Samsung App Store open, locating Paramount Plus involves either browsing through categories or using the search function. The search method is typically faster. Look for a search icon, which often resembles a magnifying glass, and click it with your remote. A keyboard interface will appear on your screen, allowing you to type using your remote control's directional buttons or number pad.

Type "Paramount Plus" or simply "Paramount" into the search field. The app store will display matching results, and Paramount Plus should appear as one of the top options. The official Paramount Plus app typically shows the Paramount Plus logo—a blue mountain-shaped icon—next to the app name. Verify you're selecting the official application by checking that it's published by "Paramount" or "ViacomCBS," and that it has a high number of user ratings and reviews.

Click on the Paramount Plus app listing to view its details page. This page shows information about the application, including a brief description, user ratings, file size, and permissions the app requires. On this detail page, you'll see a button labeled "Install," "Put on TV," "Add," or "Download," depending on your TV model's specific terminology. Click this button to begin the installation process.

The installation process begins immediately, and you'll see a progress indicator showing how much of the application has been transferred to your television. Installation typically takes between one and five minutes, depending on your internet speed and the current load on Samsung's servers. Do not turn off your TV or disconnect from the internet during this process, as it may interrupt the installation and require you to start over.

Once installation is complete, you'll see a notification confirming that Paramount Plus has been successfully put on your TV. The app will typically appear on your home screen in a section labeled "Recently Added" or "My Apps," or you can access it through your app store's "My Apps" section. Some Samsung TVs offer an option to launch the app immediately after installation; you may choose to do this or wait and open it later.

Practical takeaway: Use your remote to search for Paramount Plus in the Samsung App Store, select the official app, and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.

Setting Up Your Paramount Plus Account on Your Samsung TV

After Paramount Plus has been put on your Samsung TV, you'll need to create or log into a Paramount Plus account to watch content. Launch the Paramount Plus app from your home screen or the Recently Added section. When you open the app for the first time, you'll be presented with options to either log in with an existing account or create a new one.
