Checks remain a common payment method for many transactions, even in our digital world. Rent payments, bills to smaller businesses, and certain government payments often still require checks. Understanding how to order checks through your bank is a basic financial skill that saves time and money.

Chase offers check ordering through their website, mobile app, phone service, and in-person at branches. Each method has different timelines for delivery and different pricing structures. Some orders arrive within a few business days, while others may take one to two weeks depending on the service level you choose.

The cost of checks varies based on the style, quantity, and delivery speed. Standard check orders typically cost less than rush orders. Chase sometimes offers promotional pricing or discounts for customers who order checks through specific channels. Understanding these options helps you choose the most cost-effective method for your situation.

Practical takeaway: Before ordering, decide what you need the checks for, when you need them, and how many you'll use over the next year or two. This helps you pick the right ordering method and quantity to avoid rush fees or excess unused checks.

Ordering Checks Online Through Chase.com

The online method is often the most convenient way to order checks from Chase. You can log into your Chase account on their website, navigate to the check ordering section, and complete your order in minutes. This method works 24/7, so you can order checks at any time that's convenient for you—even late at night or on weekends when branches are closed.

To order checks online, you'll need to log into your Chase checking account and look for the "Order Checks" option in your account menu. The system walks you through selecting your account, choosing check styles, and entering the quantity you want. You can typically choose from basic designs or more decorative options. Chase displays pricing during the ordering process so you know exactly what you'll pay before confirming.

Online ordering usually offers several delivery options at different price points. Standard delivery typically takes 7-10 business days but costs less. Expedited options deliver in 3-5 business days for a higher fee. Some customers choose standard delivery when they don't need checks urgently, while others pay extra for faster service when they're running low.

When ordering online, you'll verify your information—address, account number, and starting check number. The system confirms these details are correct before processing. This prevents checks from being mailed to the wrong address or having incorrect account information printed on them. Double-checking this information takes just a moment and prevents problems later.

Practical takeaway: Before starting your online order, have your account information ready and know roughly how many checks you'll need. Check the current delivery timeframes during checkout to ensure the timeline matches your needs. If you're ordering for the first time online, allow extra time in case you have questions during the process.

Mobile App Check Ordering Through Chase Mobile

Chase's mobile app provides another convenient channel for ordering checks directly from your phone or tablet. Many customers find the app interface straightforward and designed for quick ordering on the go. You can open the app, navigate to your checking account, and start an order within moments.

The mobile app ordering process mirrors the online website method but is formatted for smaller screens. The app guides you through each step: selecting your account, choosing check design and quantity, and reviewing pricing. The mobile interface typically uses larger buttons and clearer spacing to make selections easier on a phone screen.

One advantage of app-based ordering is that you can photograph or save your current check to ensure the new order matches your existing checks. Many customers keep one old check handy when ordering to verify the account number, routing number, and formatting are identical. This prevents the confusion that can happen if check numbers or account details change unexpectedly.

The app also lets you save your check ordering preferences for future orders. If you order checks regularly, the app remembers your typical quantity, design, and preferred delivery speed. This means subsequent orders can be completed even faster than the first one.

Practical takeaway: Download the Chase mobile app if you haven't already, and familiarize yourself with the check ordering section before you actually need checks. This way, when you do need to order, you can complete it quickly without fumbling through unfamiliar menus.

Ordering Checks by Phone or In-Person

For customers who prefer speaking with someone directly, Chase offers check ordering through their customer service phone line. You can call the number on the back of your debit card and ask to order checks. A representative will ask for your account information, check preferences, and delivery address to complete the order over the phone.

Phone ordering may take longer than online or app methods since you're waiting for a representative to become available. However, this method works well if you have questions about check styles, pricing, or delivery options that you'd like to discuss before ordering. Representatives can explain the differences between standard and expedited shipping or help you decide on quantity.

Another traditional option is visiting a Chase branch in person. You can speak with a teller or banker about check orders, request order forms, or in some cases, complete your order right at the branch. Some branches even have sample checks on display so you can see different styles and designs before deciding. In-person visits work best when you have other banking business to conduct at the same time.

When ordering by phone or in person, the representative will verify your identity and account information before processing your order. They'll confirm your address, the number of checks you want, and any design preferences. This verification protects your account and ensures checks go to the correct location.

Some Chase branches offer check orders that can be picked up at the branch rather than mailed to your home. This option typically has a faster turnaround—sometimes just a few business days—and avoids the risk of checks being lost in the mail. Ask your local branch if they offer this service, as availability varies by location.

Practical takeaway: Call ahead before visiting a branch to order checks, as some branches require advance notice or may have specific hours when a representative can process check orders. This ensures you won't waste a trip if no one is available to help when you arrive.

Understanding Check Pricing and Design Options

Chase offers checks at various price points depending on the style, quantity, and delivery method you choose. Standard personal checks with basic designs typically cost less than specialty checks with photos, colors, or premium finishes. Ordering in larger quantities—such as 200 checks instead of 50—usually reduces the per-check cost.

Basic check designs usually feature your name, address, account number, and routing number printed in standard colors like blue or black ink. These functional checks cost the least and serve the same purpose as fancier designs. Many customers choose basic designs because they don't need decorative elements and want to minimize costs.

Personalized or decorative check options might include colors, patterns, or even photos. Some checks feature nature scenes, sports themes, or custom artwork. These specialty options cost more per check but appeal to customers who want their checks to reflect their interests or personality. Business checks might include company logos or different layout options.

Delivery speed also affects pricing significantly. Standard delivery, which typically takes 7-10 business days, is the least expensive option. Expedited or rush delivery, which arrives in 3-5 business days, costs more. Express options that arrive in 1-2 business days cost the most. Your choice depends on how urgently you need the checks.

Chase sometimes runs promotions offering discounts on check orders or free shipping on certain quantities. Checking Chase's website or asking a representative about current promotions may help you save money. Some promotions apply automatically, while others require entering a promo code during checkout.

Practical takeaway: Calculate your check usage over a year to determine reasonable quantity. If you write 10 checks per month, a box of 200 checks lasts about 20 months. Ordering appropriate quantities and choosing standard delivery saves money compared to ordering small quantities frequently or paying rush fees.
