Free Guide to Canceling Your NBA League Pass

Understanding NBA League Pass and Its Subscription Options

NBA League Pass is a streaming service offered by the National Basketball Association that allows viewers to watch games from across the league. The service offers several subscription tiers with different features and price points. Understanding what you're currently paying for is the first step in the cancellation process.

The standard League Pass subscription typically costs between $14.99 and $19.99 per month, depending on the tier you select. Annual subscriptions are also available and usually range from $99.99 to $179.99 per year. Some users choose League Pass+ or other premium tiers that include additional features like commercial-free viewing or access to certain NBA content libraries.

It's important to note that League Pass functions differently depending on your location within the United States and internationally. Regional blackout restrictions apply in many markets, meaning local games for your team may not be available through the service. This is why some subscribers find the service less valuable than expected and decide to cancel.

Your subscription may have been purchased through the NBA's official website, through a third-party platform like Apple TV Channels, Amazon Prime Video, or Roku, or through a cable provider's app. The method of purchase matters significantly because the cancellation process differs depending on where you bought the subscription. Before canceling, locate your confirmation emails or check your billing statements to determine which platform manages your subscription.

Practical takeaway: Review your most recent billing statement or email confirmation to identify exactly where your League Pass subscription is being billed from and which tier you're currently subscribed to.

How to Cancel League Pass Purchased Directly from NBA.com

If you purchased your NBA League Pass subscription directly through the official NBA website at nba.com, the cancellation process involves accessing your account settings through their platform. This is generally the most straightforward cancellation method since you're dealing directly with the NBA rather than a third-party service.

To cancel a direct NBA.com subscription, start by visiting the NBA website and logging into your account using your email address and password. Once logged in, navigate to your account settings, which is typically found in a menu labeled "My Account" or "Profile Settings." Look for a section related to subscriptions or billing information. This area should display your current League Pass subscription status and renewal date.

Within the subscription management section, you should see an option to view your active subscriptions. Select the League Pass subscription you wish to cancel. The system will typically show you when your current billing period ends and allow you to choose whether to cancel immediately or at the end of your billing cycle. Most users prefer to cancel at the end of their current billing period so they can continue watching until their paid access expires.

After selecting the cancellation option, the system will likely ask you why you're canceling. The NBA may present you with alternative options or discounts to keep your subscription active. You can decline these offers and proceed with the cancellation. Once you confirm the cancellation request, you should receive a confirmation email from the NBA within a few minutes. This email serves as your record that the cancellation was processed.

Important notes: Your ability to watch League Pass content will continue until the end of your current billing cycle, even after you've requested cancellation. If you were charged for a renewal before requesting cancellation, you may be eligible for a refund depending on the NBA's refund policies at the time of your request. Check your confirmation email for information about refund eligibility.

Practical takeaway: After canceling, save your confirmation email and monitor your credit card or bank account to ensure no charges appear after your billing period ends.

Canceling League Pass Through Apple TV Channels

Many League Pass subscribers purchase their subscriptions through Apple TV Channels, which is integrated into Apple's ecosystem of devices and services. If your League Pass is billed through Apple, you'll need to manage the cancellation through Apple's subscription settings rather than through the NBA website directly. The process is different from canceling a direct NBA subscription but follows Apple's standard subscription management procedures.

To cancel League Pass through Apple TV Channels, you'll need access to an Apple device—this can be an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV device. The easiest method is typically through an iPhone or iPad. Open the Settings app, tap your name at the top of the screen, and select "Subscriptions." You should see a list of all your active subscriptions, including League Pass if it's managed through Apple.

Find NBA League Pass in your subscriptions list and tap on it. The screen will display your current subscription status, including when your next billing date occurs. At the bottom of this screen, you should see an option to "Cancel Subscription" or similar wording. Tapping this option will begin the cancellation process. Apple will show you when your access will end and may present retention offers to try to keep you subscribed.

If you're using a Mac computer, the process is similar. Open System Preferences or Settings, navigate to your Apple ID, select "Subscriptions," find League Pass, and choose to cancel. On an Apple TV device, you can access subscription management through the Settings app, then Accounts, and finally Subscriptions.

One important consideration with Apple TV Channels is that you retain access to League Pass content until the end of your current billing cycle. You won't be charged again after cancellation is confirmed. Apple will send you confirmation emails showing the cancellation and your final access date.

Practical takeaway: If you subscribe through multiple Apple devices, you only need to cancel once—the subscription is linked to your Apple ID, not to individual devices.

Canceling League Pass on Amazon Prime Video and Roku

League Pass is also available as a channel add-on through Amazon Prime Video and Roku. These platforms operate their own subscription management systems, so the cancellation process differs from both direct NBA cancellations and Apple TV cancellations. Understanding which platform hosts your subscription is essential for successful cancellation.

For Amazon Prime Video cancellations, start by logging into your Amazon account through a web browser or the Amazon Prime Video app. Navigate to "Your Account" and look for "Prime Video Channels" or "Subscriptions." You should see League Pass listed among your active channel subscriptions along with the billing date. Select League Pass and choose the option to cancel or remove the channel. Amazon will show you your final billing date and confirm the cancellation. Unlike some platforms, Amazon allows you to cancel immediately, and your access will end on that same day. If you prefer to watch through the end of your billing period, note the renewal date before canceling.

For Roku-based subscriptions, the process depends on whether you're accessing League Pass through the Roku Channel or through another app available on Roku devices. If it's through the Roku Channel, log into your account on the Roku website, navigate to your subscriptions, find League Pass, and select the cancellation option. The Roku Channel operates similarly to Amazon Prime Video in terms of immediate cancellation availability.

A key difference with these platforms is that they may process refunds differently than the NBA or Apple. Amazon Prime Video typically does not offer refunds for partial months if you cancel mid-billing cycle, but policies vary. Roku has similar policies. Before canceling, review their specific refund policies, which are usually available in your account settings or through their customer service documentation.

Both Amazon and Roku will send confirmation emails once your cancellation is processed. Keep these emails for your records, as they document when your access ends and serve as proof if any charges appear after that date.

Practical takeaway: Before canceling through Amazon or Roku, note your renewal date and understand that immediate cancellation typically means you lose access that day, unlike the NBA or Apple where you can often continue through the billing cycle.

Canceling League Pass Through Cable and Streaming Bundles

Some cable television providers and streaming services bundle NBA League Pass with their offerings. This is common with services like YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, and various cable providers. If your League Pass came as part of a larger subscription package, canceling just the League Pass component requires navigating your provider's specific system.

For YouTube TV subscribers, access your account settings through the YouTube TV app or website. Find your subscriptions section and look for add-on channels or premium add-ons. League Pass may be listed here if you've added it to your base YouTube TV subscription. Select it and choose the removal or cancellation option. YouTube TV typically processes these changes immediately, and you'll lose access to League Pass content once the change takes effect, though your base YouTube TV service continues
